Filtering through your clothes part 3

The final technique using the hand made fabric filters is, the bag!

Unfortunately after ingesting so much softener during these tests we decided to only used one material which was the sock. However from the results of the previous tests the outcome of using the polo shirt would be the same.

How we constructed the trails are as follows:

7g medium grind coffee

200ml water

Firstly put the ground coffee into the material then tie the top closed tightly (we used an elastic band). Place the bag in the cup and pour the water on to it and leave to extract for 4 minute.

In the Cup!

Again the material works well to keep the coffee from leaving sediment in the cup. This technique results in a more tea like delicateness.

Looking back on this techniques results we would say that if we were to do it again to make it a bit deeper in flavour we would recommend a slightly finer grind and pour the water directly on to the bag should help with extracting more out of the coffee.

Again if you are going to use this method please ensure that you have rinsed out any of the chemicals from what you will have washed your clothes in.
